if I did a book signing in your town, would you come?

Oh, did I mention? I have a book coming out in April. And now that we’re less than three months out, it’s time to start planning the book tour.

Book tours aren’t what they used to be. Neither is publishing, of course, and so the expense of flying authors around the country and putting them up in hotels– so they can speak to a handful of people at each bookstore– is not really how things are done anymore.

That being said, if I can show my publisher sufficient interest and enthusiasm in particular cities, we could potentially make something happen.

So I’m asking for your help. If you think you’d really try to come to an event for When Did I Get Like This? in your hometown, will you comment below (with the name of your town of course) and let me know?  If you think your moms’ group or book club or sister might like to join you, please let me know that as well.

You can also send me an email, if that’s easier, to amy at amy wilson dot com. (rendered as a regular email address, of course; my weird spelling is just to prevent spam.)

This will be tremendously helpful to me, so thank you in advance! Back to the regular blog tomorrow.

I would totally be there. I know Fargo isn't a destination hot spot, but we're really a pretty decent city — larger than most people think. Not NYC, but we love a good book here and we'd treat you right. I'm not holding my breath but if you end up coming out this way, let me know, and I'll let all my friends know, and have them let their friends know, etc. Oh, and I have connections at our newspaper, too, if that helps. 🙂 We have a parenting page that I'm sure would feature you.

Hey you–I'm sir kits if interest would be generated at the B&N in West Hartford. It's mommy/hippy central. Plus, I used to be a book publicist at Simin &Schuster (Scribner imprint–did I ever tell you that?), so I would do my part on this end for you, and I would be over the moon to have you up here 🙂

Heather January 27, 2010 at 1:11 pm

meant "sure lots of interest" and "mommy/yuppy"–damn this iPhone keyboard!

Kelly January 28, 2010 at 8:06 pm

Hey, sorry so late. Minnesota loves book signings. 🙂 I'd pull together a mommy-blogging group to go see you and help promote it on my blog.
